ORA-04031: unable to allocate nn bytes of shared memory

Cause: More shared memory is needed than was allocated in the shared pool.

This error occurs when the oracle is unable to allocate the required size of shared_pool to the client to perform the task.

You can query following parameters on sql prompt.

show parameter sga
show parameter pga
